But what about the veterans? A massive 47% of play sessions were dedicated to games released between one and seven years ago. And get this – a hefty 37% went to titles that are eight years old or more! Now that's some serious staying power.

With over 200,000 titles available, compared to the approximately 18,000 released in 2024, Steam offers an immense library encompassing everything from genre-defining classic CRPGs to a vast array of other gaming experiences.

The data suggests that while players remain drawn to established favorites, new releases still find an audience, even amidst the platform's extensive back catalog. The unexpected popularity of titles like 'Banana' exemplifies the dynamic and unpredictable nature of the gaming community.
