Alright, let’s talk about Riot finally pulling their heads out of the sand with League of Legends changes that’ve had the community up in arms lately. Yeah, they’ve been stepping in it for months—Hextech Chests vanishing, Exalted skins turning into a cash grab, Blue Essence costs creeping up—but now they’re owning up to the mess. In a dev video and blog post that dropped recently, Andrei Van Roon and Paul Bellezza from League Studios basically said, “We hear you, we screwed up, and we’re fixing it.” About time, right?

They kicked things off with a mea culpa that felt pretty real. “Some of you are pissed, maybe even wondering if we’re still the Riot you used to vibe with,” the blog says, or something close to that. They’re not wrong—trust’s been shaky. Between gutting free loot systems and rolling out overpriced skins, it’s been a rough ride. But here’s the good news: they’re dialing some of it back.

Hextech Chests? They’re making a comeback next week with Act 2. You’ll be able to snag them just by playing again—no wallet required. Catch is, there’s a cap—10 chests and keys per Act. Eight are sprinkled through the free seasonal pass, and two more tie into the Honor system. Speaking of Honor, that nerf hit players HARD and folks weren’t shy about complaining. Riot’s “working on it,” they say, but no details yet. Typical—promise the world, deliver TBD.

Then there’s the Exalted skin drama. Rolled out in October, these premium skins got locked behind a pricey gacha wall, and players hated it. The Sahn Uzal Mordekaiser one? Total letdown. People were like, “This costs HOW much and looks THIS meh?” Riot’s delaying it now, promising to juice it up so it actually feels worth the hype. They’re also slowing down the Exalted train—sounds like we won’t see one every Act like they first hinted. Smart move. Quality over quantity, please.

Look, League’s been a rollercoaster lately, and not the fun kind. But this feels like a step in the right direction—listening, tweaking, maybe even remembering why we stick around. Still, I’m keeping my expectations in check. Riot’s got a knack for overpromising sometimes. Let’s see if they stick the landing.
