Former Annapurna Interactive Employees Take Over Private Division

Rockstar owner Take-Two confirmed last year that the publishing division Private Division would be sold. The buyer wasn't confirmed at the time, but it has now been revealed that a group of former Annapurna Interactive employees are taking over.

Bloomberg was the first to report on the story, after conversations with people familiar with the situation. According to the website, investment fund Haveli Investments first acquired Private Division and then reached an agreement for further sale.

The new owners primarily consist of the group that resigned from their positions at Annapurna Interactive last year. This came after disagreements with Annapurna's management.

The new company, which doesn't yet have an official name, will take over all games and series under the Private Division umbrella - with the exception of the "early access" game No Rest for the Wicked.

Included in the portfolio are the Hobbit simulator Tales of the Shire, the Kerbal Space Program series, and a new game from Pokémon developer Game Freak.

20 Private Division employees were reportedly part of the original sale from Take-Two. Several of these will likely now lose their jobs.
