Garry's Mod Creator Unfazed by Skibidi Toilet in Fortnite

Skibidi Toilet in Fortnite. Wild, right? You’ve probably heard about it. This internet crossover explosion has folks scratching their heads and others cheering. But what’s Garry Newman, the Garry’s Mod mastermind, think?

Quick recap: Skibidi Toilet is a web series by Alxey Gerasimov. He uses Source Filmmaker, Valve’s 3D software. Some assets? Ripped straight from Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike: Source—Garry’s Mod’s stomping grounds. So, naturally, people wondered if Newman had beef with Fortnite’s Skibidi Toilet bundle.

Newman’s stance? Crystal clear. He doesn’t care. Not one bit. No lawsuit incoming, despite some chatter. Makes sense, honestly. Garry’s Mod, a 25-million seller, wouldn’t exist without Valve’s Half-Life 2.

“I’m 42, I don’t care if Fortnite added a skibidi toilet, please stop telling me,” Newman tweeted. Straight to the point. “I’m not gonna sue,” he added. Smart move. He lacks basis, want, or need. No ownership of the core elements. He didn’t make HL2, the toilet models, SFM, or the videos. Plus, he’s admitted to being “lazy af.” Even a photo of him on the toilet wouldn’t rouse him to action.

This whole thing raises questions about Skibidi Toilet ownership. Valve, with Half-Life 2 and its assets? Gerasimov himself? Someone else entirely?

Remember that DMCA incident? Newman said the “Skibidi Toilet guys” hit him with one. Ironic, right? Then an account claiming to be Gerasimov denied involvement. Newman later told IGN it was “resolved.” Turns out, Invisible Narratives, the studio partnering with Michael Bay on a Skibidi Toilet film, was behind it. They claimed copyright on characters like Titan Cameraman. Public records confirm their copyright claims.

The DMCA letter even mentioned “unauthorized Skibidi Toilet Garry’s Mod games” generating serious revenue. Newman's reaction? Understandably incredulous. The audacity!

Earlier this year, Facepunch nuked all Nintendo content from Garry’s Mod’s Steam Workshop after a Nintendo takedown request. Twenty years of uploads, gone. Newman’s currently cooking up S&box, Garry’s Mod’s successor. Keep an eye on that.
