In October, Blizzard launched a fundraising campaign in honor of Mats "Ibelin" Steen. Through sales of the World of Warcraft pet The Fox, the developer raised 2 million Dollar, which goes to CureDuchenne. Steen died from Duchenne muscular dystrophy at age 25, but managed to live a life full of love and friendship through World of Warcraft. Since then, his story has become world-famous through the documentary film Ibelin.

  • "Through this collaboration, thousands of families affected by Duchenne's have felt seen, heard, and supported in a truly incredible way. World of Warcraft players have shown that gaming can do good, and we are incredibly grateful to Blizzard, the Steen family, and all the players who joined us in honoring Mats Steen and making a real difference in the lives of those affected by Duchenne's," said CureDuchenne CEO Debra Miller.

World of Warcraft chief Holly Longdale also extended great thanks to the players, to the Steen family, and to CureDuchenne for the collaboration.

  • "We invite everyone to continue showing their support for CureDuchenne in whatever way they can, and to continue honoring Ibelin's legacy, both in and out of the game with compassion and joy." All proceeds from sales of the Fox Pack go to CureDuchenne's work in research, patient care, and innovation related to extending and improving the lives of those suffering from the disease.
