The Fortnite FTC Refunds are Here

The Federal Trade Commission announced on December 9 that they're rolling out 629,344 refunds, totaling over $72 million, after Epic Games agreed to settle claims of unlawfully charging players for unwanted purchases.

The FTC pointed out that Epic Games made it too easy for kids to spend money without their parents knowing, and even blocked some users who challenged these charges from using what they'd already bought.

Still Time to Claim Your Refund

If you're wondering if you can get your money back, here's how:

  • How to Apply: Head over to the special "File a Claim" site set up for the FTC vs. Fortnite/Epic Games case. Even if you missed the first round of payments for claims before October 8, you've got until January 10, 2025, to get your refund.
  • What You Need: You'll need either a claim number from the FTC or your Epic Games ID to apply.

Are You Eligible?

You qualify for a refund if:

  • You were charged for items you didn't want between January 2017 and September 2022
  • Your child used your credit card without you knowing between January 2017 and November 2018
  • Your account got locked after you disputed charges with your credit card company from January 2017 to September 2022

Remember, you must be 18 or older to apply, and sadly, this is only for players in the United States.
