Lords of the Fallen studio changing direction? During a recent investor chat that raised eyebrows across gaming circles, CI Games laid out some surprising plans for their future titles.
For those who don't remember, Lords of the Fallen launched last October as CI Games' ambitious take on the Soulslike genre. The game had its share of ups and downs - from those early performance issues to the steady stream of patches that followed.
During the investor discussion, Global Marketing Director Ryan Hill (who's been with the company through both Sniper Ghost Warrior and Lords of the Fallen) explained their upcoming strategy. Like clockwork, the natural follow-up question about DEI implementation came up. Hill's response? They're sticking to what they know works: games crafted specifically for their "core and adjacent audiences."
All signs point to this being more than just talk. The studio's already got their next moves planned out - Lords of the Fallen updates will continue rolling out up to Version 2.0, and something even bigger is brewing behind the scenes. Looks like we're getting extensive playtesting for a sequel in 2025.
No one was actually expecting a sequel announcement this soon, especially given the mixed reception at launch. But with the original game still getting regular updates on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, it's clear CI Games isn't backing down from their vision.
